Marking its 3rd edition, The Grid Race needs no introduction. Crowds are already on their toes, waiting for the calendars to flip to the 2nd of June to hit the obstacles with a force. Participation numbers are a testament to the success this event is gaining year after year, with registrations going up to 1,000 and counting in 2018. This is enough to get some of us yearning for registration tickets, but if you still need some convincing, we’ve got reasons aplenty.

TAKE PART IF…. YOU LIKE BREAKING A SWEAT

Here’s how it works. Based on the timing of registration, participants are split into groups, known as waves, which determines each team’s starting times. Organisers prepare numerous obstacles which the participants have to conquer to get to the finish line, many of which remain undisclosed until the gridders get face to face with them on the day. Watch out for 10 Maersk Line containers and get ready for some climbing!

TAKE PART IF… YOU LOVE A CHALLENGE

Whether you’re a fitness junkie or a newbie, the event is open for all. The ultimate goal is not to make it first to the finish line, but to get there at your own time. Veteran participants claim that the race is about beating one’s own personal record and the obstacles faced along the way are a real treat to adventurists. Success lies in following a well-scripted preparation programme.

TAKE PART IF… YOU LIKE MEETING NEW PEOPLE

Shaking hands and chatting up to new faces is something you’ll eventually be doing before the race kicks-off, as the number of participants keeps growing year after year. Facing the obstacles is less laborious with a supportive team, whether you need a confidence push half-way through or a helping hand to get over an obstacle. Comradeship is what gets you to the finish line.

TAKE PART IF… YOU WANT TO SHARE THE FUN WITH FRIENDS

Forget cheese nachos and movie nights; take a different approach to bonding time. Stop hectic lifestyles from draining thrilling get-togethers and get your peers involved in The Grid too. Put excitement in recreational sports and follow The Grid’s routine fitness tips together. Friends that train together stay together.

A word of warning – don’t expect the race to be a piece of cake, but that’s exactly what makes hundreds come back every year to give it another go. All you need to become a gridder is to have a Can Do attitude; the rest is all preparation. Hurry up – registration closes on 30th April 2018. Good luck!
